
Project 2: The Altered
The altered is a project I completed independently during my Bachelor of Science in Game Design program. This was my final submission for the class Project and Portfolio IV. In this class, I learned the basic processes of plotting out, blueprinting, asset implementation, and basic mechanic design and implementation. The mechanic I designed was a flashlight that could destroy the shadow-people lurking about each area of interest in the level. The three areas were all designed based on the ’90s cul-de-sac model homes. I used reference images from the mood boards I created for each level to flesh out the level progression and how and where I wanted to place enemies and pick-ups. The player is tasked with collecting all the coins and getting them to the end of the level, to pay homage to the night creatures running about.
